Couples Adventure Boudoir - Will We Get In Trouble? (uncensored)

Recently, Zealous Stills Instagram account was under fire for the outdoor boudoir images below, image after image was flagged for “sexual activity and nudity.” Since I love my Instagram community (Shout out to you!) I deleted all the images to keep my adventure boudoir account in the “green” to so say.

Insert massive eye roll.

I can confirm, there was no sexual activity present and well nudity? Yes, there was some of that. Luckily, many places in Oregon, like these hot springs below, are clothing optional!

I recently asked my Instagram followers to send me their ponders, questions and concerns for a new FAQ section of the website and I think now would be a great time to address this popular question…

“Can we get in trouble being naked outdoors for a photoshoot?”

The short answer is: Not with me.

The long answer is, possibly, with the wrong planning and attitude. Doing an outdoor boudoir session comes with a different set of rules than an in studio boudoir session. In the studio, we have the ability to lock the door, close the curtains and only allow in who we want in.

Outdoor, adventure boudoir is a little different!

Careful planning for outdoor boudoir is necessary. But, that’s what you have Zealous Stills for! When planning your outdoor boudoir session, I have a check list I use for the best case scenario for being nude outside for your photoshoot.

  1. Is it clothing optional? This may come to a surprise to many on the East Coast and Midwest, but in the PNW (and other locations) we have clothing optional places! There are nude beaches in Oregon, Washington, Florida, California, just to name a few! The hot springs adventure boudoir session below is a perfect example of that. It’s advertised as ‘Clothing Optional’ and it warns potential hikers to prepare to see nudity.

  2. Is it on BLM land? Another thing we have in the west, is Public Land. Doing an outdoor boudoir session on public land gives us all the freedom in the world. Fun fact! Oregon is over HALF public land at 53% BLM with 32,665,430 acres! Public land gives us the freedom of being in the middle of nowhere and nowhere, has no rules. Of course, there are implied rules like be respectful of the land, pack out trash and leave no trace but other than that, we have the freedom to be naked and where we like!

  3. Are there local ordinances that allow female nudity? Cities like Fort Collins, Colorado actually lifted bans on female toplessness in 2019! There are other cities in it’s path and I look for things like this in case we want to be in a more public-ish location for your outdoor boudoir session.

  4. How busy is the trail we’ve picked? If your adventure boudoir session has no option for clothing optional, blm or laws that protect female nudity, then we pick low traffic areas. I use a mix of mediums to research your outdoor session location and one of those is All Trails. There’s a nifty lil’ button that I can click that says to only show me low traffic trails. Specifically, a trail that says “unlikely to encounter other people while exploring.” This option immediately filters out all the places you’d take your grandmother Karen for a hike. (I know I have bad ass clients named Karen, I’m not talking about you ;))

  5. What time of day/day of the week are we shooting? If all else fails and we end up doing your adventure boudoir session in a popular place that is to DIE for, I pick the least trafficked days of the week at the least trafficked time of day. Sure, the Grand Canyon is a busy place on a Saturday afternoon in May when the cactus is blooming. But, what if we did your adventure boudoir session at sun rise on a Wednesday in February? Chances are, we can pick a time to be alone, even in the most popular areas!

  6. Cover up between shots! Even after all that can be done is done planning your adventure boudoir session to be as private as possible, we still have the option to cover up between shots! Just because your outdoor boudoir session is full of nude photos doesn’t mean you have to be naked the whole time! I encourage all of my clients to bring an easy on/off robe of some type to put on when were moving from spot to spot, or when the unlikely chance of another hiker passes by. During your outdoor boudoir session, your comfort and respect for others is my highest priority!

All in all, there are so many ways to keep your aventure boudoir session private and out of “trouble”! These outdoor couples boudoir photos below were taken at a clothing optional hot spring in Central Oregon. We shared this space with several other people. Some were naked, some were not. It’s all about respect!

If you’re curious about setting up your own Adventure Boudoir session, (couples or just for you) reach out and we can get the conversation started!

Not in Central Oregon? No problem! On 11/24/23 I’ll be releasing my pre-planned travel dates in several other states outside of Oregon! If you’re not on the email list, I’d suggest subscribing cause those friends get first dibs on booking those travel dates and I’m anticipating them selling out quickly!

are these images below too spicy for social media?!
